Earl Peterson

Earl Edward Peterson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the age of 66. Earl was born in Bonne Terre to the late Ronald Lee and Earlene Kay Peterson. He lived a life marked by dedication to education and service.

 In addition to his parents. Earl was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Bud Norman and in-laws, Murray and Frances Norman.

 Earl's passion for learning began early in life and led him to attain a degree in Divinity with a minor in Psychology and Sociology. He later graduated from Missouri Baptist University with a master's degree in Elementary Education, followed by a second master’s degree in special education. Earl dedicated over 30 years of his life to teaching in the Central School District and retired from North County School District, where he touched the lives of countless young learners. He was deeply committed to enriching the lives of his students and inspiring them to reach their full potential. Earl was a member of Three Rivers Baptist Church.

 Outside of the classroom, Earl was a talented musician, playing the piano and organ in local churches, where his love for music resonated with many. He cherished his time in the garden, tending to both vegetable and flower gardens, and was known for his culinary skills, especially his famous chicken and dumplings-a dish that brought families together around the table.

 Earl is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Melissa "Missy" Peterson; daughter, Courtney (Nathan) Patterson; son, Christopher Peterson; and his beloved grandchildren: Caden, Braden (Payton Wilfong), and Chaelyn Patterson; Karley and Miles Peterson; and bonus grandson Zachary Perrin; brother, Jonathan (Tammy) Peterson, brother-in-law, Phil (Kristy) Norman; sisters-in-law, Gina (Doug) Taylor and Donna Norman along with several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 The family requests that memorials be made to North County or Central Backpack program in Earl's memory, ensuring that his passion for education continues to inspire future generations.

Per Earl’s wishes no services will be held. Arrangements under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
