Edgar "Corky" Swaringim

Edgar L. “Corky” Swaringim, age 79, Ozark, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, in his home. Ed was born June 10, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri.  Ed was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Abbie Burns and his son-in-law, Jimmy Gonz.

He was raised on a farm in Esther, Missouri living with his grandparents, Edgar and Abbie Burns.  He loved the farm and that began his hard work ethics. At 15 he moved to town, lived alone and went to work at IGA grocery store and finished high school. He continued working there until he opened his own produce market and a quick shop. In 1982, he closed those businesses and went to work for American Republic Insurance Company. He was awarded the Top Manager of the Year several times.  After 35 years he retired and enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending most of his time outdoors. But his greatest joy was his four grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene, a son, Timothy Swaringim and his wife Sharon; three daughters, Abby Newsom and her husband Rocky, Dorinda Henson, and Yvonne Leach and her husband Bill; four grandsons, Samuel Henson and Taylr Hall; Nathan Gonz and Lindsey Elfrick; Collin Ruble and Amanda Noblin; and Zachary Swaringim and Kaleigh Farmer; a sister, Kathy Troutt and her husband Joe; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Oddfellows Cemetery in Park Hills.

The family request memorial donations to Regional Hospice, 3405 W Mt Vernon St, Springfield, MO 65802 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 901 E St Louis St, Unit 702, Springfield, MO 65806.
