Edward Russell Nelson Jr.

Buddy Nelson, 66, formerly of DeSoto, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his residence in French Village. He was born Sunday, April 7 1957 in St. Louis, to Edward Russell Sr. and Vivian Arlene (Wideman) Nelson. Buddy was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Lisa Nelson. Buddy served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the DeSoto Elk’s Lodge. Buddy enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his dog Cooper.

Buddy is survived by his loving parents; siblings, Tammy Barnett, Bill Nelson (Lynda), Jim Nelson, Sheree Faenger, and Butch Nelson (Blue Sidebottom); eight nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 5-8PM. Inurnment will take place Friday, June 30, 2023 10:30 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
