Ed Siegel

Edwin “Ed” Siegel, age 99, of Irondale, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born on Sunday, March 8, 1925, to the late Carl Richard and Mary Josephine (Byren) Siegel.

Ed was married to the love of his life Leola May Shelton for 63 years. When you saw Ed, you saw Leola by his side. Ed was the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ed was a self-employed T.V repairman and was of Catholic faith.

 He was a former member of Mineral Area Rescue Squad where he served as past President and secretary. He enjoyed watching Gun Smoke and Wagon Train and listening to Swap & Shop on the radio. He loved going camping, riding four wheelers and dune buggies. 

Ed is survived by his wife, Leola; children, Edwin “Rick” Siegel and wife Janet, Eugene “Tom” Siegel, Edward “Ted” Siegel and wife Tonji; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Carr and husband Jason, Nikki Jarrett and husband Joe, Danny Siegel and wife Debra, Kristin Siegel and husband Josh, Kayla Whelehon and husband Corey, Aaron Asher, Abby Asher and Andrew Asher; 8 great grandchildren; special nieces, Cynthia Berry and Christine Kroeger along with other family and friends. 

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Siegel; niece Cathy White; and a daughter in-law, Tonja (Lawson) Siegel.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM until service time of 11:00 AM with Deacon Mike Burch officiating  Burial to follow at Big River Cemetery in Irondale.
