Eleanor Ann Eckl

Eleanor Ann (Sisler) (McVey) Eckl passed peacefully February 16, 2023. Ann was born June 26, 1938, to Charles William Sisler and Doris Lillian (Hutchison) Sisler in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bill Sisler; step-mother, Marlyn J. Sisler; and husband, Gary Eckl.

Ann was graced with many qualities, but the ones that struck so many were her boundless joy, love of animals and devotion to her family. She rarely met a stranger. Her sweet, engaging smile greeted every person who interacted with her, be they close family, a friend or someone she didn’t know. All of us go through ups and downs in life, but it was rare to see those effects in her character or demeanor. Both of which were seemingly constant. She made every holiday, family gathering or get together with friends, fun and joyous for all. This, of course, included her many pets, who always received the same affection, lovingly prepared food, and treats she made for her human family. ALL felt welcomed and loved in her presence.

As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was in her element. Emparting her boundless skill of being an example of grace, love, duty and joy on her only son, Patrick, as well as her step-children, Sandra Oujiri, Suzanne Witzke and Scott Eckl. All of which filtered down to her grand, and great-grandchildren. Carrying those same talents into her professional life as a dental hygienist, office manager and cashier, customers will remember her as a blond-haired beauty with a friendly face. In all aspects of her life, she was a selfless, loving, and caring person with a unique way of making others feel welcome and accepted. A truly strong and unique person for her time.

Ann is survived by her son, Patrick McVey and wife Pamela; three step-children, Sandra Oujiri and husband Col. Timon (US Army ret.), Suzanne Witzke and husband Randy, Scott Eckl and partner Melissa Holifield; two half-sisters, Julie Dacus and husband Jeff, and Amy Martel and husband Chris; six grandchildren, Rebecca McVey and fiancé, Chris Chapman, John McVey, Heidi Cardwell and husband Justin, Nick Eckl and wife Carol, Margaret Witzke, and Madeline Harris and husband Ryan; one great-grandson, Marshall Cardwell, plus one Eckl great-grandson due in June; many nieces and nephews. Ann’s family would like to express their love and gratitude to Jan Snowdell and family for their friendship and care since Ann’s arrival in Bonne Terre. A memorial for Gary and Ann is being planned.
