Elmer Mccorkle

Elmer "Pete" McCorkle, 88 of Park Hills, passed away August 1, 2013 at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. He was born March 26, 1925 in Gumbo. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, Elmer served as a deck gunner aboard the USS Enterprise in WWII. He is preceded in death by parents, Elmer James and Gladys (Jones) McCorkle; wife, Berniece (LaBruyere) McCorkle; brothers, Bryan McCorkle, Corbin McCorkle, and Marvin "Doc" McCorkle; sisters, Ruby Ozanic, Elsie Gammon, Beulah White, and Pearl Henrich.Elmer is survived by children, Jim McCorkle and wife Diane of Park Hills, and Patricia (Mrs. Donald) Burr of Lebanon TN; 5 grandchildren, Renee Taylor, Bryan Burr, Greg Burr, Eric McCorkle, and Christina (Jim) Garcia; six great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson.Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home Caldwell Chapel in Park Hills, Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The service will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 9:00 AM with Rev. Mike Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Park Hills.
