Elsie Surina

Elsie Surina, 80, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Desloge, passed away January 22, 2015 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born December 29, 1934 to the late John and Annie (Engelmann) Ates in Cape County. Elsie was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Surina in August of 1992, whom she married December 3, 1965 in St. Louis; parents, John and Annie Ates; siblings, Ruth Deimund, Eula Jones, Lester Ates, and LaVern Ates; and one step-son, John Surina. Elsie is survived by her loving sisters, Verna Tidwell of Jackson, and Alene Hale of Alton IL; step-children, Donna (Mrs. Thomas) Fritzemeyer of St. Clair, and William Surina of Austin TX; eight step-children; and one step-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tristan Engle officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Bismarck. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
