Emily Mason

Emily Mason, age 84, of Irondale, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington, surrounded by her family. She was born on Tuesday, June 27, 1939, in Brownsville, IN, to the late Lexie Lee Hollars and Hazel Gertrude (Evans) Whitaker. Emily served her country in The United States Air Force. She was a member of the Leadwood United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Mama’s Thrift Store in Park Hills for 7 years. She loved being active in her church as well as her church family. In Emily’s younger years, she enjoyed sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Michael “Mike” Mason; siblings, Mary Lou Bogard, Barbara Herbert and Joseph “Bud” Hollars.

Emily is survived by three children, Page Ann Carlyon and husband Bryan, Michael Mason and wife Sheri, Janna Pirtle and husband Rodney; grandchildren, Joseph Carlyon, Christopher Carlyon, Ethan (Dana) Carlyon, Rachel (Gary) Fenwick, Paige (Travis) Coleman, Katie Mason, Michaela Mason, and Lexie Pirtle; seven great-grandchildren, Allie, Harley, Remington, Claire, Sam, Sailor, and Kimberly; one great-great-grandson, Ronan; several nieces, nephews and special friends also survive.

A celebration of life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Leadwood, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Reverend Dennis Conway will be officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Memorials may be directed to the Leadwood United Methodist Church, in Emily’s memory.
