Mrs. Emogene "Jean" (Young) Lewis, age 82, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Community Manor in Farmington. She was born the daughter of the late Milford & Reva (Eaton) Young, on April 12, 1930. She was married on Sept. 25, 1948, to the late John Carl Lewis, Jr. Jean was also preceded in death by 4 siblings: Virlin Pirtle, Helen McFarland, Dale Young & Hiram "Buster" Young.

She is survived by her 5 loving children: Carla McMillian (Mike); Carolyn Shirshekan (Sharo); Chuck Lewis; Danny Lewis & John Anthony "Tony" (Kathryn) Lewis, all from Farmington.

Emogene was "MaMa" to grandchildren: Cherilyn Franklin (Joe); Kelly McMillian; Shelley Boren (Brian); Maria Hartmann-Shirshekan (Chris); Jonathan, Jessica & Mark Shirshekan; Joanna Eagan (Dan); Charles Adam (Glenda); Miri & Heather Lewis; Coby Lewis; Klaire; Kate & Karoline Lewis & great-grandchildren: Madison McMillian, Alex & Emma Franklin, Emily Evans, Zane and Gage Boren, Alaina Hartmann, Aidric & Asa Eagan; Giulianna Lewis; Kayleah, Zyler & Jaycee Lewis. Emogene is also survived by brother, Milford "Junior" Young and sister, Shirley Caito, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends & extended family.

MaMa was born at home in Desloge, Missouri, the oldest of 6 siblings. She & Carl were married for 58 years and raised 5 children and numerous grandchildren. Her home was always open to family and guests for a visit or longer. Her wonderful meals were hard to leave. Jean and Carl lived in Elvins, Delassus and Farmington. MaMa graduated in 1947 from Elvins High School and 1948 from the Farmington Beauty Academy. She was a self-employed hairdresser for over 50 years. Jean was a member of the Delassus Baptist Church for many years, and she was a Pythian Sister with the Knights-of-Pythias. She and Carl enjoyed many activities thru their involvement with the fraternal organization. Jean was often found at a yard sale or JC Penny's and she loved jewelry. MaMa's greatest dedication was to her family and she carried enough concern for all of them. She was the center of the family and will be missed by many.

Visitation : Monday, April 1st, 5-8 p.m. Visitation Resumes, Tuesday, 6:30 - 10:00 a.m.

Visitation moves to Delassus Baptist Church, starting Tuesday @ 11:30 a.m. (Delassus Bapt. Church - 408 2nd St. - Delassus, MO. (573) 756.6510)

Funeral : Tuesday, April 2nd, 1:30 p.m.

at : Delassus Baptist Church - Delassus, MO., with Rev. Charles Schrum officiating.

Burial follows at Knights-of-Pythias Cemetery, Farmington
