Eugene "Gene" (Smooth) Russell Johnson

Eugene “Gene” (Smooth) R. Johnson, age 80, of Bonne Terre, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his residence.  He was born July 25, 1939 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Frank Russell and Martha K. (Kunze) Johnson. Gene was also proceeded in death by his loving wife Paula (Kliessle) Johnson.

Gene loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles and his family as well as passing out scratch off lottery tickets and would never accept back any of the winnings.  Gene proudly served his country in the Air Force.

Eugene is survived by his son, Keith  (Gena) Johnson; grandchildren Deven Johnson, Morgan Skaggs, Dalton Skiles;  his sister Carol Rindom (Larry): nieces Connie Lake (Tim), Christine Shoemaker (Nathan), and nephew Craig Tucker (Christina), special friend Dennis Newkirk (Debbie) as well as the staff at Family Fun Center.

Gene will be escorted to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery by the Patriot Guard Riders for a graveside service at 11 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2020
