Evelyn Markham of Ironton, Missouri passed away on January 31, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 1, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Harrison and Edna May (Smith) Toland. On January 25, 1952 she was united in marriage to John Edward Markham who preceded her in death on July 20, 2016 after sixty-four years of marriage. They were the parents of seven children: Debra Griffin of Knob Lick, Missouri, Richard Markham of Pilot Knob, Missouri, Rena Feller of Park Hills, Missouri, Brian Markham of St. Louis, Missouri, Cheryl King (Albert Parson) of Ironton, Missouri, John Markham (Tammy) of Truesdale, Missouri, and Kimberly Phegley (Rick) of Hogan, Missouri. Evelyn is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded by her siblings: Joe, Rock, Bud, Marie and Frances and two sons-in-law: Tony Griffin and Steven King. Evelyn loved to garden and work in her flowers. She was also a big shopper who loved to go to Walmart and to the West County Mall any chance she got to go. Evelyn’s door was always open to everyone, and people enjoyed gathering at her home. She always had snacks ready for friends and family. Most important to her was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to get her entire family together for holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. She will be missed by all who knew her.
