Firmin Leroy Horn

Firmin Leroy Horn passed away Jan. 1, 2007, at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, at the age of 86 years, 1 month & 22 days. Firmin was born in Farmington on Nov. 9, 1920, & was the son of Charles Alexander Horn & Alvina Elizabeth 'Bieser' Horn.

Firmin graduated from Farmington High School & later the Univ. of MO., Columbia, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. Firmin proudly served our country as a 1st Lieutenant in the US ARMY Corps of Engineers during WW II for 4 years, with 2 of these years served in active combat in the South Pacific. Firmin was married April 12, 1953, to Leslie June Ragsdale. After the war, Firmin was employed for 13 years by the Terminal Railroad Assoc. of St. Louis, & worked several additional years for a railroad construction company. Firmin founded the Aatlas Track Construction Co. in 1968, serving as President for 27 years until retirement in 1996. Firmin was a 'Charter Member' of the National Railroad Construction Assoc., serving as President from 1972-1976, and awarded a "Life Membership" in 1991. Firmin was very much involved with square dancing & at the time of his death was serving on 2 committees promoting square dancing in the St. Louis area.

Survivors Include: his wife, Leslie June 'Ragsdale' Horn, of St. Louis. 2 Daughters: Ellen Horn, of Charlotte, NC & Linda 'Mrs. Michael' Schriever, of Crestwood, MO. 1 Sister: Mildred 'Mrs. Pete' Wiley, of Farmington; Also surviving are many other relatives & friends.

Visitation: Friday, 10-11:30 am

Funeral: Friday, 11:30 a.m., January 5, 2007

at: TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Don McGuire officiating.

Interment With Military Honors : @ Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington.
