Fred L. Harris

Fred L. Harris, 79, of Bonne Terre passed away December 3, 2014. He was born February 14, 1935 in Bonne Terre to the late Walter and Bertha (Forrester) Harris. Also preceding him in death are his first wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Daugherty) Harris in 2003; brother, Chester Harris; sisters, Hazel Anthony, Eva Silk, Mabel Crocker and Lucille Wills. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Rita (Degonia) Harris whom he married in July 18, 2014; daughter, Debbie Williams; two grandchildren, Brooke (Beau) Strebeck and Patrick (Katie) Williams, three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jack and Caroline; step-children, David (Jane) Howard, Danny (Stacey) Howard, Steven (Kelli) Howard, Tracey (Randy) Crepps, Rob (Shannon) Strauser and several nieces and nephews. Fred retired from Dow Chemical in Pevely. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Leadbelt Golf Course. Fred loved life. He loved to golf, listening to good music and has been known to dance the night away on many occasions. Fred loved sports, watching them on television and especially loved to watch his great-grandchildren play soccer, baseball and football. He was a friend to all that knew him and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre with Rev. John Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
