Freeda Irene Polk of Ironton, MO passed away February 5, 2012 at The Baptist Home at the age of 84 years. She was born February 16, 1927 in West Fork, MO to Other and Olive Gertrude (Shults) Sutterfield. On September 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Howard Polk who preceded her in death on January 27, 1986. To this union seven children were born; Stephen Polk of Brighton, TN, Patricia Whited of Lake Sherwood, MO, Martha and husband, Dr. Stephen Guempel of Eunice, LA, Howard Edward and wife Lynda Jean Polk Jr. of Annapolis, Michael Polk, Randall Polk and infant Janet Kay Polk who preceded her in death. Also surviving are brother; Bernie Sutterfield of Bell Fountain, OH, and sister, Maxine Reitzel of Ironton, MO, seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Freeda was also preceded in death by brothers Edward, Ralph, and Lindell Sutterfield and sisters; Mable Dominick, Hazel Sutton, and Norma Jean Prugh. Freeda was a 1945 graduate of Bunker High School. She was a member of the Lesterville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Annapolis 1st Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to The Baptist Home.
