Gary Sidney Lawrence

Gary Sidney Lawrence, age 81 of DeSoto, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto. He was born on October 20, 1936 in Morehouse, Missouri, a son of Arthur Sidney Richard and Zola Minnie Ann (Pope) Lawrence. On October 18, 1979 at the Christian Church in Festus, Missouri he was united in marriage to Vunita Mae Counts, she survives in DeSoto. Other survivors include: stepchildren – Elton Reed of Festus, Vickie Haynes of DeSoto and Sandra Niemeyer of Henderson, Arkansas; brother – Jim Lawrence of Winfield, Missouri; sisters – Sandra Killbrew of Arkansas and Sonya Mouser of New York; five step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy; he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith. Visitation will be from11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Les Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Marcus Memorial Cemetery in Fredericktown.
