Gary "Mike" Michael Sparks

Gary Michael Sparks, age 74, of Bonne Terre, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 at his residence. Mike was born on Thursday, February 5, 1948 in Desloge, Missouri to the late VA and Dorothy “Richards” Sparks. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Sheila “Hopson” Sparks; brothers, James and Thomas Sparks; first wife, Louise “Hare” Sparks; stepmother, Bessie Sparks; and brother in law Fred Mallow.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was a construction contractor retired from the Carpenters union local 1795. Mike enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, camping, and spending time working in his yard. He enjoyed singing karaoke and his favorite artist was Hank Williams. He was very devoted to his loyal K- 9 service companion Dexter, as well as a faithful Church member of Victory Worship Center. Mike was a loving family man, and father that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving devoted son, Scott Brand; other children, James Brand and Sheryl (Alan) Siedhoff; six step daughters; Cheryl (Bill) Smith, Terry Moore, Becky (John) Hoffman, Allison (Doug) Matthews, Stacy (Danny) Howard, and Susan (Rob) Love; four grandchildren, Danielle, Kayla, Jessica and Austin; one brother, Lynwood “Bud” (wife Naomi) Sparks; three sisters, Phyllis (Sparks) Ferguson, Mary (Sparks) husband, Donald Meyer, Sharon (Sparks) husband, Hilan Priddy; two sisters in law Doris Sparks and Cynthia (Fred) Robinson; dear friends, Jerry and Dorothy Rowland, along with many nieces, nephews and host of friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation resumes Saturday, from 11:00 am until funeral service at 2:00pm. Pastor Kent Ward and Pastor Donna Jones will be officiating. Interment will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Disabled American Veterans or Victory Worship Center.
