Gene Garrett, age 78 passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his home in Fredericktown, Missouri. He was born on April 7, 1943, in Arkansas, a son of John Guy and Callie Lou Liza (Harlen) Garrett.
On February 10, 1973, in Fredericktown, he was united in marriage to Elayne Funkhouser, she survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one son – Brian Garrett of Arcadia, Missouri; one brother – John Garrett and wife Opal of Fredericktown; one sister – Irene Heard of Thorton, Colorado; four grandchildren – Garret (Kim) House, Logan Garrett, Austin Garrett and Landon (Danielle) Garrett; one great granddaughter – Saydie McKenna; one soon to be great grandson – Layker Garrett and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers – Dolphus "Dee", Hubert and Gerald Garrett:
three sisters – Lorene Largent, Velma Markos and Glenda Garrett.
Gene was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran; he had worked for Complete Roofing in Antonia, Missouri and enjoyed fishing, hunting, refinishing furniture, and sitting at the city lake with his brother but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Calvary Church in Fredericktown and drove the handicap van for the church for several years.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Visitation will also be held from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Calvary Church in Fredericktown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Calvary Church in Fredericktown with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating.
Interment with full military honor's will be in the Walker Cemetery in Fredericktown
