Geoffrey L. Pratte, 74, of Terre Du Lac passed away January 20, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 14, 1940 in Bonne Terre to the late Charles John and Ruth Jane (Thornton) Pratte. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre where he taught RCIA for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Geoffrey began his education at Sacred Heart Seminary in Donaldson, Indiana. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy. He then received his Master's Degree in French and Theology. He worked for the CIA for four years. He received his Juris Doctorate from Washington University after which he came to Farmington working for Roberts and Roberts Law Firm. In 1987 he started his own firm specializing in arbitrations and family law, until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement he continued doing arbitration until January 2014. He was a former City Attorney for Bonne Terre and former Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for St. Francois County. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen (Westendorf) Pratte; five children, Stephen C. Pratte and wife Laura of Columbia, MO, Geoffrey Marc Pratte and wife Anitha of St. Peters, MO, Nicole Walter and husband Todd of Columbus, OH, Greg Pratte and wife Meghan of Festus, Robert W. Pratte of Ste. Genevieve; eight grandchildren, Josephine, Seamus and Miles Pratte, Sophia and Raju Pratte, Mia, Ian and Lila Walter; brother, retired Judge Kenneth W. Pratte and wife Kay of Farmington. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Service will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
