Listen to Obituary

George Meyer, 84, of Farmington, passed away on April 6, 2026, at Jefferson Mercy Hospital in Festus. Born on March 12, 1942, in French Village, he was the loving son of the late Louis Ferdinand and Edith Grace (Buscher) Meyer. George was of Baptist faith, and recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

After serving his country in The United States Navy, George dedicated himself to his work as a welder in the construction industry. A profession that showcased his skill and determination. He took immense pride in his craft and built a legacy of hard work that will be remembered by all who knew him. His community involvement extended beyond his work; he was a devoted member of The VFW #2426 in Desloge, where he connected with fellow veterans and shared stories of camaraderie.

In his leisure time, George found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a profound love for classic western films and was an avid supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, often seen cheering for his favorite team. However, perhaps his greatest treasure was his family. George cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who brought endless joy and pride into his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robin Forsythe; brother, Rick Meyer and brother in-law, Elvis Williams.

George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann (Tiefenauer) Meyer; children, Leigh Ann Greer and husband Kevin, Lori Pyatt and husband Larry, Travis Meyer and wife Jamie, Michele Meyer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Don Meyer (Mary), Bill Meyer (Joan), Linda Skaggs (Wayne) and Rosemary Williams; son in-law, Scott Forsythe; special friend, Jim Prather; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that also survives.

The family will be planning a celebration of life, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
