Geraldine Pettus Marler Faircloth, lovingly known as Jeri and to some Freida, went home peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. She was born on Friday, July 13, 1934, to the late Melvin and Dorothy Orvilla Feilner Pettus. Jeri was a woman of strength, faith, and unwavering love. She survived many challenges with grace, including a remarkable 36-year journey after surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm. Jeri was the beloved wife of Darrell for 38 wonderful years, sharing a life built on deep love and devotion.
Preceded in death by her first husband Edwin S. Marler and her son Gary Lee "Tank" Marler, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and faith. Her children; Teri Wells and Bob Bollinger of Bonne Terre, Missouri Larry and Deborah Marler of Georgetown, Tennessee; will cherish her memory forever.
Jeri was a proud grandmother to Amber Marler of Farmington, Missouri; Tenaya and Casey Kelley of Desloge, Missouri; Lucas, and Garrett Marler of Georgetown, Tennessee, Seth Marler of Orlando Florida—and a loving great-grandmother to CJ and Carter Kelley. Her loving stepchildren, Brent Faircloth of Farmington, Missouri; Amy and Scott Lix of Ste. Genevieve County—along with her loving step-grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, and Hayden—were also dear to her heart.
She was a bright light in the lives of her sister-in-law Nancy and Ted Haines; her special friends Bob Pinkerton and Jane Woods; and all who knew her. Jeri dedicated many years to her career at Bonne Terre Savings and Loan, and her years as a caregiver in St. Louis exemplified her compassionate spirit and selfless nature.
Jeri found joy in trips to the casino, playing rummy and watching game and dance shows, she was quite the dancer herself. Jeri took pride in organizing some of the best garage sales around. She especially loved preparing special meals to bring her family together.
A woman of deep faith, Jeri valued her Christian beliefs and lived her life guided by love, kindness, and daily practice of her faith until her final moments. Her resilience and strength inspired everyone around her.
A proud graduate of Bonne Terre High School, class of 1952, Jeri's journey was marked by a lifetime of love, devotion, and unwavering spirit. Her presence will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
