Glenda May Grommet of Belleview, Missouri passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 14, 2025 at the age of 89 years. She was born on March 13, 1936 in Black, Missouri the daughter of the late Delbert and Thelma (Bowers) Mathes. On June 20, 1975 she was united in marriage to David Walter Grommet who preceded her in death on January 7, 2018. Glenda was also preceded in death by two sons: William Salvaggio and Steven Salvaggio; three sisters: Betty Mathes, Janet Miller, and Patsy Brumfield and her husband, Mike; brother: Vernon “Buster” Mathes; and son-in-law: Mike Squires. Glenda leaves behind her loving daughter, Sherri Squires who has been not only her daughter, but her friend and caregiver. Dave’s four children also survive: Edward and wife, Donna Grommet of Macon, North Carolina, Carol Dains and husband, Bill of Valley Park, Missouri, Thomas Grommet and wife, Lisa of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Nancy Bland and husband, Bobby of Ellington, Missouri. Glenda’s brother, Jimmy and wife, Barbara Mathes also survive as do numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Glenda was a graduate of Lesterville High School. She was a stay at home Mom and enjoyed caring for her husband and family. She was a long time member of the Caledonia Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and counted cross stitching. Glenda always had a big garden. She loved being outdoors working in the garden and her flower beds. She also enjoyed canning things she grew in her garden. A Celebration of Glenda’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caledonia Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Turner officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Caledonia Methodist Church.
