It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria J. Ridener, age 71, who left this world peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Park Hills, Missouri. Born on Wednesday, December 1, 1954, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Gloria was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, cherished for her warmth and nurturing spirit.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Anna (Jones) Baum, beloved son, Matthew Ridener; and the love of her life, Jerry Ward; siblings, Edna Wideman, Doris Tune, Lola Hollowell, Paul Long, Daniel Long, Francis Jones, Wayne Baum, David Long and Jerry Long.
Gloria’s life was defined by her deep love and devotion to her family, especially her beloved children, Markus, Sherri and Matthew. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether she was cooking for those she loved, relaxing with her adult coloring, attending bible study, or enjoying a fun game of bingo.A woman of strong faith, Gloria believed in the importance of faith, family, and community. Her kind and compassionate nature touched the lives of many. She also had a special love for animals, especially dogs, and always enjoyed keeping up with the latest news and happenings in the lives of her many relatives.As the youngest of eleven children, family was always an important part of Gloria’s life. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle spirit, and the joy she found in spending time with those she loved.
In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Gloria worked tirelessly as a waitress for years, then working as an assembly worker for General Motors, she embodied a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing for her family. She will be remembered not only for her contributions in the workforce but also for the unwavering love and support she offered to everyone in her life.
Gloria is survived by her children, Markus and Sherri Ridener; her brother, Joseph Long (Bonnie), and her cherished niece, Lylia Altom and husband Jim, as well as many nieces and nephews, and other family members. Her legacy of love and care will forever live on in their hearts.
Visitation for Gloria will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until service time of 12:00 P.M., Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life and share their cherished memories. Pastor Alan Berry will be officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park Cemetery in Bonne Terre.
As we reflect on Gloria's life, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
