Helen LaVerne Duncan of Ironton, Missouri passed away September 13, 2016 at her residence at the age of 81 years. She was born October 11, 1934 in Steelville, Missouri the daughter of the late Lee Harold and Gladys Irene (Hamlin) Starks. On May 18, 1952 she was united in marriage to Donald Ray Duncan. After 64 years of marriage he preceded her in death on April 22, 2016. To this union two sons were born; Donald Ray Duncan Jr and wife, Teri of Farmington, Missouri and Dwayne Lee Duncan who preceded her in death in 1987. Helen is also survived by her brother; Eddie Starks of St. Louis, Missouri, her sister; Barbara Holland of Crestwood, Missouri, nine grandchildren; Josh, Zach, Samantha, Erin, Jaime, Donna, Ashley, Amanda, and Jordan, fourteen great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Helen was a member of the Pilot Knob Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a greeter. She also attended Pine Crest Nazarene Church. Helen retired from Union Electric. She also worked at the Kozy Korner Café, Nu-Way Café, Ironton Telephone Company, Iron County Security Bank, City of Ironton Treasurer, ArkMO Power and Light and she was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Due to her work history she met many people and made many friends throughout her life. She always loved people.
