Herbert William Beck of Farmington, passed away on August 31, 2021 at Parkland Hospital, Farmington, Missouri at the age of 80. He was born May 27, 1941 to late William Lee Beck and Ruth (Kellogg) Beck in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Groh Bollman; foster parents, L. C. and Bea Mayes; and a foster sister, Toni Mayes Simms.
Herb lived at the Presbyterian Children's Home in Farmington, Missouri from a young age until graduation from Farmington High School. After serving in the US Army, he worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri. Herb has a Bachelor's degree from Lincoln University and a Master's degree from Central Missouri State University. He was an educator, a home builder, an inventor, and a self-employed businessman. His hobbies were gardening, reading, woodworking, and tinkering in his shop. Herb was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Herb is survived by his wife, Janet Cole Beck; daughters, Erin Beck of Farmington, Missouri and Shanna Raeker of Washington, Missouri; grandchildren, Abigail Raeker, Eleanor Raeker, Benjamin Raeker, and Sophia Beck; sister, Ruth Groh Christmann (Tom); brother, William Lee "Bill" Beck; sister-in-law, Rita Cole Stam (John); brother-in-law, Michael Cole (Kathy); brother-in-law, Vernon Bollman; and foster sister, Sandy Mayes Wade (Dan).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Farmington Elks Scholarship Fund, Attention Kurt Bauche, P O BOX 109, Farmington, Missouri. While the funeral arrangements will be private, the family requests that you send them a card describing your favorite memories of Herb. Your card can be mailed to Herb Beck Family, 348 3rd Street, Farmington, MO 63640. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
