Herbert Gene Sumpter

Herbert Gene Sumpter of Doe Run, MO passed away January 7, 2015 at his residence at the age of 85 years. He was born November 13, 1929 in Desloge, MO the son of the late Poley and Mary (Petty) Sumpter. Herb is survived by three children; Linda Moore of Eolia, MO, Gene Sumpter of Doe Run, MO, and Mark Sumpter of Wright City, MO, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandson. On December 12, 1984 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Nash who preceded him in death on January 3, 2009. In addition to Mary, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Hutchenson, four brothers; Sonny Sumpter, Verlin Sumpter, Berlin Sumpter, and Eugene Sumpter, and five sisters; Betty, Imogene, Margaret, Valetta, and Ann. Herb served his country in the United States Army.
