Hester Marie Wharton

Hester Marie Wharton of Ironton, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her residence at the age of 94 years. She was born August 30, 1925 in Ironton, Missouri the daughter of the late Tony Edward and Dora Irene (Hart) Hartwick. On May 16, 1942 she was united in marriage to Eli F. Wharton who preceded her in death on August 17, 2004. To this union five children were born: Eli Henry Wharton of Ironton, Missouri, Ben Wharton and wife, Janet of Ironton, Missouri, Carilyn Joan Abney and husband, Minuard of Ironton, Missouri, Judy Marie Wharton who preceded her in death as an infant, and Marilyn June Wadlow and husband, Ronnie who both preceded her in death. Hester is survived by ten grandchildren: Ron E. Wadlow, Ozie Clarence Prier, Dom Wadlow, Benjie Wharton, E. Craig Wharton, Marilyn Beth Stone, Margo Bradley, Aaron Wharton, Tad Wadlow, and Carilyn Abney-Jones, twenty-four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Hester was preceded in death by her three brothers; Amon Hartwick, Lemro Hartwick, and Henry Hartwick and four sisters; Helen Racer, Roberta Browers, Elsie Inman, and Alberta Hartwick who died in infancy. Hester enjoyed being on the go. She liked to go to yard sales and going out to eat. She was a hard worker and put out a big garden every year. She also worked in housekeeping at St. Mary’s of the Ozarks hospital and at the shirt factory. Memorials may be made to the Cove Cemetery Association.
