Homer Chester Gipson age 91 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown. He was born on May 21, 1927 in Buckhorn, Missouri, a son of Charley Jefferson and Lucy Jane (Johnson) Gipson. On November 21, 1945 in Greenville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Gladys Catherine Moser, she preceded him in death on June 15, 2005. Also preceding him are his parents, and infant son – James Richard Gipson, a grandson – R.C. Hovis and brothers – Elva, Lonzo, Oscar, Elza and Leonard Gipson and son-in-law – James Leroy Hovis . He is survived by: two sons – Charles Gipson and wife Pat and Dean Gipson and wife Donna both of Fredericktown; five daughters – Jane Hinkle and husband Bob, Kathy Myers and husband Bob, Glenda Hovis, Betty Hovis and husband Carl and Mary Brotherton and husband Wayne all of Fredericktown and fourteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Homer was a self-employed logger and enjoyed working with Charles, Dean and R.C.; he also enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, music and playing his guitar. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Burchard officiating. Interment will be at the Barrett-Garham Cemetery near Buckhorn. Memorial contributions are suggested to Dementia Society of America. Condolences may be posted on this website. .
