James Granville Walker, 85, of Bonne Terre passed away July 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 30, 1927 in Cedar Grove, IL. to the late Elmer Walker and Grace (Billingsley) Walker Brennecke.Also preceding in death is his wife, Shirley Walker.James was a member of the East Bonne Terre First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 18 years. James was a retiree with the St. Joe Lead Company, he worked as their Medical Director for numerous years. During his service to his country, James served with the Merchant Marines. He is lifetime member with the VFW POST 6883.James was very dedicated volunteer firefighter for 40 years, servingwith stations in California, Cairo, IL, and Herculaneum. With his extensiveE.M.T. skills, he trained some of the first E.M.T.s with the Joachim PlattinAmbulance District. His dedication to community service and volunteerism ledJames to receive a resolution from the State of Missouri. He loved to BINGO and spend time with friends and family. James is survived by son, James W.W. Walker of Potosi; two daughters, Elois (Bobby J.) Hartsell of Festus, Patricia (Robert S.) Dolan of Bonne Terre; special friend, Mona M.Miller; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren andgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy J. (Charlotte) Brennecke, HermanL. (Carolyn) Brennecke; sister, Cherylene Brennecke; several half brothers and sisters.Visitation will be Friday July 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in BonneTerre. An Ozark Firefighters Service will be that evening at 7 pm. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 am at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel with Rev. Randy Black officiating. Interment will follow at the Bonne Terre Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society.
