James “Jim” Conway, 87, of Desloge, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 13, 1939, in Bonne Terre, Jim was the cherished son of the late Ewell and Edna Mae (Rickard) Conway.
Jim served honorably in the United States Air Force from July 10, 1957, until July 7, 1961, attaining the rank of A2C E-3 (P). After his time in the military, he dedicated his professional life to the Flat River Glass Factory, where he worked in maintenance for many years, earning the respect and camaraderie of his colleagues.
A passionate man with many interests, Jim was a proud member of the Blacksmith Association of Missouri. In his spare time, he found joy in horseshoeing and working as a farrier, demonstrating his deep love for craftsmanship and the art of blacksmithing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janette (Peasley) Conway; two brothers, Todd Conway and wife Pearl, Gene Conway and wife Carol; and one nephew, Billy Conway.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra (Ward) Conway; children, Lori Byers and husband Ted, Todd Conway, Elaine Huskey and husband Ray, Steve Morris and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Mandi Jones and Natalie Karlson; great-grandchildren, Katlin Karlson, Hailey Daniel, Chase Daniel, and Hayden Jones; one brother, Jack Conway; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre with full military honors.
