Jane (Bangert) Emery

Jane Ellen (Bangert) Emery, 65, of Park Hills passed away on November 6, 2023. She was born June 27, 1958 in St. Louis to the late George S. and Ruth Irene (Carlson) Bangert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Albert “Mugs” Mayerhoffer and nephew, Kyle Mayerhoffer.
Jane is survived by four sisters, Marsha (William) Borchardt, Paula Lambrecht (Sam McCord), Vicki Mayerhoffer, Susan (Carl) Edgar; nieces and nephews, Camille Edgar and family, Casie Anderson and family, Elizabeth Cook and family, Kelly Sadler and family, Morgan Hart, David Borchardt and family, Mike Borchardt. In addition to family, she is survived by a multitude of friends.
One of Jane’s passions, and her life’s work, was sharing her creativity and playful spirit with children. She was a beloved teacher for decades and later the librarian at the Kingston School District. Jane had a spark that touched everyone she encountered, but especially the hundreds of children who passed through her classroom or library doors.
Jane’s vibrant personality, generous heart, and big energy showed up in all she did and certainly when it was to help any friend or acquaintance. Jane was spontaneous, wildly creative, complex, smart, and fun-loving. Her incredible style and deep appreciation for beauty shown through in every part of her life, delighting us all.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM at The Iron Knot (formerly the Masonic Lodge) located at 7 Church St., Bonne Terre. Reception and hors d’oeuvres will follow until 5:00 PM. Because of Jane’s abiding love for children, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Potosi Elks Backpack Program, which benefits children in Washington County, at P.O. Box 177, Potosi, MO 63664.
