Janet Faye Hamman, age 78, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, a cherished mother, true matriarch, grandmother and great grandmother, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Born on Sunday, May 11, 1947, in Bonne Terre,
Janet devoted her life to caring for others, leaving an indelible mark on those she encountered during her lengthy 30-year career as a restorative therapist at Scenic View Nursing Center. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to her work epitomized her heart for service, and she touched the lives of countless patients and their families. But above all, she found her greatest joy in nurturing her family.
She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Kimberly Bagwell and Kristal Faulkner and husband David, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom, love, and unwavering support. Rounding out her legacy are her precious twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed countless cherished moments. Janet loved nothing more than sitting outside, watching her grandchildren splash and play in the pool, and relishing in the laughter that surrounded her. She also leaves behind two cherished sisters, Judith Hampton and Sandra Lerchekz and husband Martin; brother in-law, Cleveland Bowles and wife Kathy; sister-in- law, Beverly Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Fred lee and Wilma Juanita (Wells) Briley; her loving husband Fred L.Hamman, son, Darrel Hamman; grandson, Anthony Hamman; in laws, Hubert and Helen Bowles; sister, Beverly Callahan and brother Ricky Wilson.
A true lover of life, Janet found joy in the simple things. Her evenings were often spent laughing along to episodes of "The Golden Girls" or reminiscing in the warmth of stories from "Little House on the Prairie." More recently, she found fascination in the adventure of "Naked and Afraid." Her front porch was a sanctuary, where she would sit quietly, captivated by the hummingbirds that danced around her, reminding her of the beauty of nature and the gentle rhythms of life.
The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date, celebrating a life that was rich in love and laughter. Family and friends will gather to pay their respects and share memories that will forever hold a place in their hearts.
As we reflect on Janet’s incredible journey, we remember a woman whose love knew no bounds, who was not just a mother and grandmother, but a steadfast pillar of support and strength for her family. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will live on in the lives she touched and the love she so freely gave.
