Janice Maureen (Walters) Pezel, 78, of Desloge, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Born on Wednesday, March 25, 1947, in St. Louis, Janice lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and community. Raised by her grandparents, Henry and Bessie Engleman, after the passing of her parents, her resilient spirit greatly impacted those around her.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, William W. and Mabel M. (Engleman) and her brother-in-law, Rodger Mai. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering support.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Pezel; her caring daughter, Angela Pezel of Farmington; her brother, Donald (Buck) Walters of Farmington; and her sister, Karen Mai of Desloge; Classmate and best friend Judy (Monroe) Pinkston; Janice will be fondly remembered by countless nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, friends, and her adored furry cats, Sunny and Gypsy, and host of friends.

Janice was united in marriage with the love of her life, Tom, on February 25, 1968, in Farmington. Their commitment to one another blossomed further when they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1969, a testament to the profound bond they shared. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington, Janice proudly taught primary and youth classes, instilling faith and compassion in the hearts of many.

A diligent worker, Janice paved her own path from a young age. As a teenager, she began her journey at Venker's Drug Store in Desloge, where she discovered her passion for helping others. This early experience kindled her love for the medical field, leading her to a fulfilling career as a Medical Records Clerk at Mineral Area Hospital and later as the Office Manager at the Farmington Surgery Center. She lent her talents to Dr. Laurence Lum in Desloge as a Medical Transcriptionist, continuing to work from home, even after her illness a testament to her relentless dedication and work ethic. Beyond her professional endeavors, Janice found joy in knitting and crocheting, and her heart danced to the tunes of Elvis and Randy Travis.

 A devoted sports fan, after her husband Tom introduced her to watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs, together they cherished their time together.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints 709 S. Henry St. Farmington, Mo. 63640, from 9:00 A.M. until service time of 10:00 A.M. under the direction of Bishop Justin Sannar. Burial will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park Cemetery in Bonne Terre. 

Janice will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who loved her.
