Janice Rae (Hiatt) Coleman, wife of Phillip Coleman of 36 years passed away peacefully in her home on April 17, 2023. Janice was born in North Platte, Nebraska July 29, 1939. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Ray A. Hiatt and Helen Janice (Steele) Hiatt, great grandson Thomas Ray Hammond, and granddaughter, Carlei Allyson Huff. She was also preceded by the deaths of her first husband Larry Joe Hammond, father of Larry, Beth, and Chris and second husband Milton Allison Denny, father of Misty and Vicky. Janice is survived by her sister Becky Jane (Hiatt) Baker (Ronnie Baker), her five children, Larry Ray Hammond (Vicky Hammond), Helen (Beth) Elizabeth Hammond, Crystal (Chris) Marie Hammond-Morrow (Fray Morrow), Misty Dawn (Denny) Umfleet (Chad Umfleet), and Victoria Rose (Denny) Huff (Chuck Huff), her nephew, Jeffrey Alan Baker (Randy Arndt), her grandchildren, Christy Parson, James Hammond (Shelby), Emily (Hammond) Looney (Andy), Corey Royer, Logan Royer (Chelsea), Jordan Royer (Taylor), and Dakotah Huff, and great grandchildren, Reagan, Ansley, Miranda, Nathaniel, Kaelyn, Lilee, Ian, Brody, Kaiden, Jonah, Colsyn, Madalyn, Willa, Joleen, and Colt.

Janice’s life was devoted to nursing and caring for those in hospitals, patients’ homes, and nursing homes within her career. Her work ethic began on the farm with her parents taking care of the animals and helping in the gardens. She worked and completed LPN school. As a young girl she played basketball for the high school team in Shelbina, Missouri where she was raised. She was full of life and always enjoyed an adventure. Her love for horses began on the family farm and she won many ribbons and trophies showing Western and Parade ponies and received recognition in the local papers and magazines.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. The inurnment will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina, Missouri with a graveside service at 1:00 PM.
