Jerry Wayne Brooks

Jerry Brooks, 72, of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at Parkland South in Farmington. Born on June 1, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, he was the son of the late Mill Roy and Velma (Sloan) Brooks.

Jerry was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Navy. His commitment to service was a testament to his character, embodying strength and resilience. After his time in the military, Jerry worked as an electrician, where his hands-on skills were well-regarded, exemplifying his ability to fix almost anything.

Outside of work, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He embraced boating and fishing, always seeking the serenity of the water. A true lover of nature, he devoted countless hours to his yard, planting beautiful flowers and creating a vibrant space that mirrored his warm spirit. He was also known for his tinkering, bringing a fix-it mentality to everyday challenges.

Above all, Jerry cherished the time spent with his family, particularly his partner in crime of 53 years, Janet Brooks, and their grandchildren. He took immense pride in his family, savoring every moment and memory created together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Melvin, Henry, Brenda and James Brooks; and one brother in-law, Linard Hodges.

Jerry is survived by his adoring wife of 18 years, Janet (Hodges) Brooks; four children, Sherry Lacey, Jerry Wayne Brooks, Jr., Tonyia McCallister and Jerry McCallister; grandchildren, Meaghan and Stephanie (Chris); great-grandchildren, Lilly and Andrew; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; fury companion, Buddy; siblings, Shelia Brooks, Donna Massey and Terry (Cindy) Brooks; stepbrother, Ron (Lauren) Brooks; sisters in-law, Carol Tullock, Carla Smith and Kathy (Ed) Ervin; several other family members and friends also survive.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Jerry Wayne Brooks will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
