Jewell Irene Gipson

Jewell "Irene" Gipson, age 83 passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at her home near Fredericktown, Missouri. She was born on October 29, 1934 in Zion, Missouri, a daughter of Curtis Writer and Ruby Hazel (Whitner) Bartrug. . On November 13, 1953 in Silva, Missouri she was united in marriage to Alan Lowell Gipson, he survives at the home. Other survivors includes: sons - Perry (Annie) Gipson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and William "Bill" (Lovina) Gipson of Fredericktown; daughters – Teresa Gipson of Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Pamela (Jim) Boyle of Columbia, South Carolina and Winnie Gipson of Farmington, Missouri; brother – Darrell (Lauri) Spain of Jackson, Missouri; sister – Anna Spain of Zion; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Deborah Gipson, grandchildren, Emmie Schwartz and Caleb Wagner and brother, David Spain. She and her husband Alan were over the road truck drivers; she enjoyed gardening and quilting and was a member of the Twelve Mile Baptist Church near Fredericktown. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Ed DeSpain officiating. Interment will be at the Farquar-Graham Cemetery in Buckhorn, Missouri. Condolences may be posted on this website.
