          Jim Kernan, 80, of Bonne Terre, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home.  He was born October 22, 1942, in Esther, to the late Walter and Hazel (Umfleet) Kernan.  Jim was a Christian and truly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.  Jim is better known to most as, “Their auto body repair man.”  Jim began his career with Sam Scism Motors as a teenager and eventually became the body shop manager for Sam.  Jim transitioned to business owner, by opening his own business Kernan Auto Body, where he worked for 28 years until he retired.  He was a long-time member of both Bonne Terre and Desloge, Chamber of Commerce.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon “Skeeter” Kernan; sisters, Martha Robinson and Dot Korber.

          Jim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra (Thurman) Kernan; brother, Mike (Jenee) Kernan; children Tommy (Amy) Kernan, Chuck (Tammy) Kernan, Jamie (Tammy) Kernan, Benji (Leah) Kernan, Krista (Gary) Tiefenauer, Craig (Kim) Wilkinson, Tricia (Junior) Shimon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, also survive.

          Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  The visitation will resume, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.  Brother Louis Nash will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Marvin Chapel Church Cemetery, in Bonne Terre.  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
