It is with great sadness we share the news of Joe Skiles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away September 29, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on December 26, 1947, in Bonne Terre, Joe was the son of the late Cleadis and Norma Ruth (Wortham) Skiles.
Joe was known for his infectious laughter and love for life. Proud of his Baptist faith, he found joy not only in his beliefs but also in the connections he made with others. Joe was employed by Chrysler until he retired after 25 years. He was an active member of the Mineral Area Elks Lodge, where he cherished the friendships, he built over the years.
In his free time, Joe loved to escape into nature, whether by camping, fishing when the children were younger, or hunting. But nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. Attending his grandchildren's sporting events was one of his favorite pastimes, and he could often be spotted cheering them on with a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Susan Campbell and her husband Richard.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianna (Yount) Skiles; five children, Christina Butler and husband Thomas, Joseph “Hoot” and wife Erin, Steven Skiles and wife Ashton, Christopher Asbury and wife Misty, Amanda Kreger and husband Josh; two grandchildren, Brandon and Cooper Skiles; eleven great-grandchildren, Lane, Joshua, Payson, Everett, Waylon, Weston, Emma, Wyatt, Willie, Bella and Ajla; siblings, Carolyn Jean Dalton, Mark Skiles, don “Ziggy” Skiles and wife Cheryl, Lisa Webb and husband Bryan; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Joe will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Mineral Area Elks service at 1:45 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Kendall Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed in honor of Joe’s memory to the Siteman’s Cancer Center.
