John Fischer

John Barry Fischer, 65, of Bonne Terre, passed away January 24, 2024. He left this world on his own terms, with his wife and close friends by his side, in his own home, and with his boots on.

John did not let his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer slow him down. He continued to work for Mineral Area Asphalt Plant, cut and bale hay, and run his small family farm. He maintained a positive attitude throughout his illness, keeping his sense of humor, his strong will and his stubbornness to the very end.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Ellen; a daughter Hannah Fischer (Roy); stepsons, Austin Guyan (Natasha), and Timothy Masulit (Me’rcedes); grandchildren: Cameron, Cayden, Catelyn, Daniel, Aubrey, Maddison, Kylie, Alexzander, Kai, Nuncio, and Grayson. Forever remembered by his siblings; Charlotte Dixon (Mike), Pamela Staufenbiel, Allen Fischer (Melinda), and Robbie Fischer; a dear cousin, Debbie Fischer. Also surviving are a host of friends and neighbors who loved him dearly; his dog Beau, and three estranged daughters and their spouses.

John was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Fischer; a brother, Aaron Fischer; and his father-in-law Juanito Garcia Masulit.
John deliberately requested that his final arrangements be kept private for reasons personal to him. Those who wish to attend his memorial are welcome to contact his wife, Ellen for details.

Instead of sending flowers, John has requested donations be made to grandparentsrights.org, Jefferson County Foster Children’s Fund, or a charity of your choice. John’s private arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
