John George German passed away April 9, 2014 at the Ozark Nursing and Care Center in Ozark, Missouri at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife, Mary Chambers German of Springfield, Missouri; his son, John Robert and wife Claudette of St. Louis, Missouri; his step-son, Steven Henry and wife Lisa of Springfield; his step-daughter, Debbie Phillips and husband Al of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Bradley Keller and Michael Repking of Tampa, Florida; and Emily and Leah Henry both of Springfield. Other survivors include several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dean and Lois Preuett, Greenwood, Missouri; Jerry Gibbs, Wentzville, Missouri; Frank and Jan Chambers, Pilot Knob, Missouri; Jerry and Lola Fry, Seymour, Missouri; and John and Carol Fisher, Kennett, Missouri, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Stenson German, his son, George Thomas German, and his sister-in-law, Jean Gibbs. Mr. German was born September 22, 1921 in Devil's Lake, North Dakota. He graduated from high school in Glasgow, Montana, in 1939. He then attended Case Western Reserve University, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering in 1943. Mr. German had a long and distinguished career in the railroad industry, working for the Great Northern and Missouri Pacific railroads, the International Heavy Haul Association, and operating his own international railroad consulting firm. Pallbearers for the service will be Steven Henry, John Fisher, Michael Repking, Dale Turner, Jerry Fry, and Mark Rigdon.
