JOHN HENRY SUTTON United States Navy Retired Senior Chief February 4, 1948 – August 15, 2019 John Henry Sutton, 71, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019, surrounded by family. He left this world while being compassionately cared for in Parkland Health Center, Farmington, Missouri. John was born to Dallas Monroe Sutton and Elizabeth Bertha (Geison) Sutton of Ironton, Missouri. John is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Sutton (brother), Carol Sutton (sister), Angie Sousa (niece), and brothers-in-law, Samuel Reed and Thomas James Sousa. John is survived by his wife, Michaelene Sutton, sisters; Mary Ellen Bridwell, Judith Ann Sousa, and Gloria Sue Reed, his children; Suzanne Sutton Brockway and husband, Mark of Atlanta, Georgia and James Edward Sutton and friend, Barb Martin of Pilot Knob, Missouri, nephews; Bob Bridwell, Michael Bridwell, Christopher Rayfield, niece; Leigh Anne Carnes, and brothers-in-law; Walter Bridwell and Ed Wilson. John graduated from Ironton High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967. He retired from the Navy in 1992 as Senior Chief specializing in avionics after having served a distinguished career on board the Lexington, Randolph, Independence, Enterprise, and finally the USS Forrestal aircraft carriers. He married Michaelene Wilson on December 28, 2013. They were partners for nearly 40 years, and he cherished his life with her. John lived the last 27 years of his life in Pilot Knob, Missouri after Navy retirement. He loved his close and extended family and they loved him. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Arcadia Valley Country Club, Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge, and the Ironton V.F.W.
