Johnny James Garrett

Johnny James Garrett, age 90 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Hillcrest Care Center in DeSoto, Missouri. He was born on November 10, 1933, in Searcy, Arkansas to John Guy and Callie Lou Liza (Harlan) Garrett.

On September 5, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri he was united in marriage to Opal Ophelia Chunn, she survives in DeSoto.

Other survivors include one daughter - Doris Boles of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister – Irene Heard; five grandchildren – Jamie Garrett, Jeffrey Karger, Jonathon Garrett. Brandy Lucas, and Michele Lucas and several great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one son - James Darrell Garrett; Sisters - Lorene Largent, Velma Markos and Glenda Garrett; Brothers - Dolphus "Dee" Garrett, Hubert Garrett, Gerald Garrett, and Gene Garrett.

Johnny was a United States Army Veteran; he retired from General Motors in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.

Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., also on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating.

Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery near Fredericktown.
