Joyce Clovia (Laramore) Adams, daughter of the late James Callie Laramore and Marena Ann (Brewington) Laramore, was born in Leadwood, Missouri, on September 1, 1927. She departed this life at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Farmington, Missouri, on October 2, 2026 at the age of 99.
On November 16, 1947, Joyce married Wayne Daniel Adams in Ironton, Missouri. To this loving union three children were born; Stanley, Marilyn and Jeanette. Wayne preceded Joyce in death on November 27, 2015.
After graduating High School in 1944, Joyce went to Southwest Baptist College for three summers. Upon passing the State Teacher’s Exam (the requirement during the War), she taught in one room schoolhouses during those same school years; at Dickens Valley in Ellington, Missouri and then at Gladden Dale Elementary in Centerville, Missouri.
As marriage and children came along, she focused on creating a home for her family. In fact, 11 homes! Joyce traveled to each new town and state with Wayne during their marriage, prepared to make a comfortable place for her family. She was talented with needle and thread, yarn and hook, and was often busy sewing and crocheting for her family and others; so many baby Afghans! She was involved in the local Baptist church in each town, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and GAs, and was an active member of WMU, Round Table and her own class. She made lifelong friends wherever she and Wayne lived. Later in life, Joyce and Wayne loved having their grandchildren visit and spend time with them, making special memories with Grandma and Grandpa. She and Wayne retired to their own small wildlife oasis in Farmington, Missouri where they shared over 29 more enjoyable years together before his death.
She is survived by her son, Stanley (Ramona) Adams; daughters, Marilyn (Chris) Nowicki and Jeanette Kell; sister, Rachel Kulage; eight grandchildren, Stefanie, Anna, Mandy, Carrie, Jocelyn, Nick, Adam, and Rebekah; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, Wyatt, Daniel, Noreen, Patrick, Lydia, and Maven; and a host of dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Laramore and Rolland Laramore; three sisters, Luellen Cook, Sceleste Plaggenburg, and Lillian Pogue; brothers-in-law, Howard Adams, Donald Cook, Carol Plaggenburg, Amiel Pogue, and Ted Kulage; sisters-in-law, Ruth Adams, Mary Laramore, and Frances Laramore.
Funeral service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home (Taylor Chapel) in Farmington, Missouri on Friday, October 9, 2026. The service will be officiated by Pastor Fred Miller. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service at 11:30 am with interment following at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
Please continue to honor Joyce with memories, stories to share and the knowledge that she loved her family and friends with pure devotion.
