Listen to Obituary

Joyce Lee Skagge, 88, of Desloge Missouri, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on October 3, 2026. She was born September 26, 1938, in Farmington, MO, to the late Leroy and Eula (Johnson) Wells.

Joyce was a long-time active member of Desloge United Methodist Church since 1964, where she made many enduring friendships.

Joyce met the love of her life in 1664. They were happily married for 62 years. She devoted most of her life to caring for the people she loved. She took especially good care of her two sons and husband who were her world.

Joyce found great happiness in traveling with her husband, her children and even several girl’s trips with her mom and sister. One of her favorite places to visit was Branson, Missouri. She enjoyed going there year round but returned frequently at Christmas time to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights at Silver Dollar City. During the summer you would find Joyce and Ronnie camping. It was one of her favorite Summer time activities. No matter if it were hot or cold outside she had a fire to roast a hotdog because, to Joyce, it wasn’t really camping if you didn’t roast a hotdog. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the picture taker and you better believe she would make you sit there and get a group picture or two before anyone could leave. We sincerely thank her for that now as we have enjoyed looking back at all of the wonderful memories made, sleepovers, dress-up and just having fun with our spouse, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Montgomery; grandson, Ben Montgomery, and one brother, Jerry Lee Wells.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Ronnie Skaggs; son, Charles Ray Montgomery Jr. (Elaine); daughter-in-law, Becky Montgomery; five grandchildren, Heather St. Gemme, Stephanie Watkins, Josh Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery and Kyleigh Montgomery; one sister, Judy Kassabaum; other family members and friends also survive.

A memorial visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
