Joyce Stroder, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away August 20, 2026, at Mercy Jefferson in Festus. Born on March 2, 1956, in Lutesville, Joyce was a cherished daughter of the late Frank and Betty Imogene (Dorsey) Thurston.
Joyce dedicated 25 years of her life to Super Value in Desloge, where her hard work and dedication were a testament to her character. After retirement, she found joy in simpler pleasures, especially the refreshing solace of her pool. Renowned for her culinary skills, she was famous for her Suzie Q Cake and Pig Lickin Cake, recipes that brought warmth and delight into countless gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Randy, Harold and Jerry Thurston and sister in-law, Joy Thurston.
Family was the cornerstone of Joyce’s life, and her memory will forever be held close by her loving husband, Glenn Stroder; daughters, Rebecca Missey and husband Brad, Rachel Stroder (Nathan Goodson); nine grandchildren, Caden, Ella, Lucy, Dalton, Emma, Emerson, Braelyn, Alex and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Lindell Thurston and wife Sheila, Darell Thurston and wife Debbie and Donna Thurston; sister in-law, Glenda Thurston; several special nieces, nephews other family members and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume Monday, August 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the service time of 10:30 AM. Pastor Dave Parmley will be officiating assisted by Pastor Joe Pogue. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of DeLassus.
