Listen to Obituary

Julia Kay (Jones) Fischer passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, in Dallas, TX, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.

Kay was born on September 2, 1947, in Desloge, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Berniece (LaChance) Jones, and her beloved husband, G. Jack Fischer.

Kay will be lovingly remembered by her many cousins; Jack’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild; godchildren; and numerous close friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and friendship.

Early in Kay’s life, she was a member of the Desloge United Methodist Church, and in recent years, a member of Preston Meadow Lutheran Church.

During her career, she worked for the Fluor Corporation (formerly St. Joe Lead Company) and AT&T.

Kay had a wonderful way of bringing warmth and kindness to the people around her. She wished to be remembered not with tears, but with a smile, a hug, and an act of kindness done in her honor. Those simple gestures reflect the spirit with which she lived her life and the love she shared with others.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, at Preston Meadow Lutheran Church, located at 6801 Coit Road, Plano, TX 75024. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at https://video.ibm.com/channel/pmlc-worship. A brief reception will follow at the church.
