June Smith

Naomi June Smith, 90, of Farmington, passed away August 5, 2021 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. She was born June 28, 1931 in Farmington to the late John E. and Aurelia (Waddell) Vaughan. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie Lowell Smith; son, Steven Dale Smith; two grandsons, Jeremiah David Smith, and Jimmy Gillam; granddaughter, Julie Jones; son-in-law, Howard Gillam; brother, John E. Vaughan; sister, Aurelia Brooks.

June was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Delassus.  She was a retiree from the State Hospital where she worked in the clerical division for over 20 years.  Anyone who knew June, knew she loved God, her family and her flowers.  In fact, if you visited her, you knew your visit would conclude with her saying, “I love you,” and tour of her flower beds where she spent her Springs and Summers.

June was survived by her daughter, Janet Gillam; grandchildren, Heather (Alonso) Lara, Matt (Sarah) Gillam, Caleb Smith, Christina Anderson, Bill Gillam, Howard (Debbie) Gillam, numerous beloved great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.

Visitation will be Saturday August 7, 2021 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume on Sunday August 8, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Delassus from 1 pm until time of the service at 2 pm with Rev. Russell David Pipkin and Jason Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at the Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Delassus.
