Karen Denise Hografe

Karen Denise Hografe, a resident of Bonne Terre passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Mercy Jefferson in Festus at the age of 62. She was born Sunday, April 21, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri to Vernon and Roseann Ratty. She carried within her a spirit of joy and a love for music, particularly singing alongside her sisters in their cherished gospel group, the Beacon’s, a harmony that echoed through their childhood. 

Karen devoted her life to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant, embodying compassion and kindness in her work within the medical community. Her heart was a sanctuary, where family and friends found solace and laughter. Karen’s legacy is woven into the lives of those she touched, and she will be forever remembered for her unwavering love and devotion.

Preceding her in death are her father, Vernon Ratty; her beloved son, Kristopher Ray Vanmeter; and her cherished sister, Carla Snodgrass. Although the weight of her absence is heavy, Karen's spirit will continue to shine through the hearts of those who loved her.

She leaves behind her devoted mother, Roseann Ratty: husband, David Hografe; sister, Katherine Hografe (Steve); and brother, Keith Ratty. Her memory will also be cherished by her loving nieces and nephews, Katrina Hografe, Steven Hografe, Denny Snodgrass, and Veronica Johnson, along with a multitude of family and friends who will hold her close in their hearts.

A visitation in her honor will take place at Gospel Light Church in Bonne Terre on Friday, May 16, 2025. Friends and family will gather from 10:00 A.M. to share stories and memories, funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., led by Pastor Larry Allison officiating. Graveside service will follow at Adams Hillcrest Cemetery in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
