Karl Helms

     Karl Russell Helms, age 83, of Desloge, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at Barnes Jewish Hospital. He was born on Thursday, October 20, 1938, in Hopewell to the late Edward Lee and Mary Ellen (Fromm) Helms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Janice “Gwen” (Twomey) Helms; sister, Dixie Dixon; infant brother, James; nephew, Mark Helms and great-nephew, James Dixon.

     Karl was a member of Living Waters Community Church in Desloge and the Sons of American Legion. He retired after 20 years with Euclid Power Plant at Barnes Hospital as a plant engineer.  Karl had a loving and giving heart and put everyone else’s needs before his.  He enjoyed traveling with his children and grandchildren.  

     Karl is survived by his daughters, Cyndi Helms, Karen Beck and husband Doug; two grandchildren, Alexandra Beck, Sarah Seastrand and husband Caleb; siblings, Bill Helms and wife Kathryn, Charles Helms and wife Sherry, Fred Helms and wife Sandra; along with several nieces, nephews and close friends.

     Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will resume on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 11:00 AM until service time of 1:00 PM in the C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel with Rev. Ron Dane officiating.
