Mrs. Karene "Kay" Hunt passed away Nov. 23, 2005, at Christian Northeast Hospital, St. Louis, at the age of 70 years, 3 months & 19 days. Kay was born Aug. 4, 1935, in St. Louis, to Thomas E. & Charlotte 'Bates' Lemons.
Kay retired from Southeast Missouri Mental Health Ctr, in 1983, after 31 yrs employment as a Recreational Therapist. Kay was a extremely active member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Farmington. She spent countless hours helping the elderly; working in the church office; assisting with communion for shut-ins & working with the Ministerial Alliance food pantry, to name a few. Kay was also active in the Business & Professional Women's Assoc. She served as President of the local chapter several times & was named 'Woman of the Year' in 1987. Kay was a member of the Shepherds Center & organized speakers for the Shepherds Center; an organization that benefits the elderly. Kay was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors Include: her husband of 54 years, Blondy (Bob) Hunt; Children: Keith (& Pam) Hunt; Glenda (Mrs. Jerry) Thurston; Edward (& Lisa) Hunt; Tammy (Mrs. Danny) Copeland, all of Farmington. 2 Brothers: Ed (& Barbara) Lemons, of Overland, KS; Jim (& Lana) Lemons, of Daphne, AL; 10 Grandchildren: Aseneth (Mrs. Nick) Dispenzers; Jennifer (Mrs. James) Carroll; Sarah Hunt; Amie (Mrs. Josh) Neel; Nicole Hunt; Kim Copeland; Kara (Mrs. Don) Garms; Amanda Copeland; Jason Hunt & Nathan Copeland; 2 Step-Grandchildren: Rob & Ryan Ward. 7 Great-Grandchildren: Breanna & Chelsey Dispenziere; Isaac; Isabelle & Jacob Carroll; Haleigh Gross & Sage Garms. Also, 2 Step, Great-Grandchildren: Alyssa Ward & Dillon Ward.
Visitation: Friday, 6-9 pm. Visitation resumes Saturday 7-9:30 am.
Funeral: Saturday, 11 am, Nov. 26, 2005, at Memorial United Methodist Church, Farmington, with Dr. David Webster officiating. Interment, K-P Cemetery, Farmington.
Memorials to: American Lung Association.
