Lisa Roberts

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa Roberts, who departed from this world on May 22, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on December 5, 1963, in Ironton, Lisa brought warmth, compassion, and joy to everyone who knew her.

For over 36 years, Lisa devoted her life to education, enriching the minds and hearts of countless middle school students in both the DeSoto School District and the Sunrise R-IX School District. As a Special Education teacher, she embodied patience and understanding, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of her students. Her love for teaching went beyond the classroom; she strived to touch each life she encountered, fostering a love of learning in those around her.

Lisa was a proud member of Primrose Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, where her spirit and kindness resonated deeply within the community. Married for 21 years to her devoted husband, Steve Roberts, she was not only a wonderful wife but a true partner in life. Together, they enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, creating memories that they cherished dearly.

An avid reader who could often be found engrossed in multiple books at once, Lisa's love for literature was matched only by her passion for quilting, a craft that she approached with both creativity and joy. Her beautiful quilts became a testament to her artistic spirit and her meticulous attention to detail.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Gene Barton; granddaughter, Jordynn Roberts; brother, Donnie Barton; in-laws, Linda Roberts, Keith Golden, Charles Simshauser and Robin Blacklance.

Lisa leaves behind her loving husband Steve and her devoted mother, Joy (Dunn) Barton; children, Stephen Roberts and wife Paula, Johnathan Roberts and wife Gina; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Chaz) Johnson, Austin (Skyler) Roberts, Justin (Launa) Roberts, Rachel Roberts, James Coatney, Eric Coatney, Dustin Talley and Dylan Talley; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Mark Barton and wife Carol, and Lorie Golden; in-laws, Charles and Tina Roberts, Clairese Simshauser, Daniel Roberts, Sandra Blacklance and Tammy Roberts; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, from those whose lives she touched in the classroom to her closest friends and family who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held at Primrose Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Reverend Randy Murphy will be officiating. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed in honor of Lisa’s memory to the American Cancer Society. As we remember Lisa, let us celebrate her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she inspired.
